The first question isn’t which battery to buy. It’s how fast your iPhone can actually charge wirelessly, because a 25W battery bank does nothing extra for a phone capped at 15W.

“Qi2 25W” is the Wireless Power Consortium’s name for the Qi 2.2 standard, and Qi2 itself is built on Apple’s MagSafe. So a certified Qi2 25W battery bank gets full MagSafe-class speed without being made by Apple.

The cheapest certified 25W bank we found. 10,000mAh, Qi2.2-certified 25W wireless, and 45W over USB-C for charging a phone or iPad by cable. It’s 16mm thick and 197g, and it has no battery display.

Best slim everyday bank: Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim) – model A1665
At 8.6mm and 122g, this is the one you’ll actually leave on your phone all day. The trade-offs are 5,000mAh and 15W Qi2, not 25W. That’s the right call for iPhone 12-15 owners and fine for anyone topping up rather than fully recharging. It also offers 20W USB-C in and out, and comes in six colours.

Best premium: Anker MagGo 2 Pro (10K, Qi2 25W, Active Cooling) – model A110R
Certified 25W with a cooling fan to hold that speed, 45W USB-C, a display and a built-in stand. 7.7oz and 0.7in thick. List $109.99. It’s on pre-order: first orders ship from 28 September, the rest in October.
Budget, with a catch: Baseus PicoGo AM41 (5K, 20W)
Slim, magnetic and cheap on sale (about $23, against a $49.99 list). But it’s not Qi2 and charges wirelessly at 7.5W, a fraction of what any current iPhone can take. Check the model number before buying: Baseus sells Qi2 versions under the same PicoGo name.
What about Apple’s own battery?
Apple sells the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery ($99, launched 19 September 2025), and Apple states it “was designed to pair only with iPhone Air.” It won’t work with any other iPhone.
Even on iPhone Air it’s modest. It charges at up to 12W on its own, or passes through up to 20W when plugged into a 30W adapter. Apple says it adds up to 65% charge. Apple doesn’t publish the capacity; iFixit’s teardown measured 12.26Wh.
If you own an iPhone Air and want something designed for it, it’s the neat choice, and it’s often discounted. Anyone else should skip it.
What to check before you buy
- “Qi2 25W certified”, not just “25W”. Uncertified magnetic banks often advertise wattage they only reach by cable. One manufacturer’s own site lists a 15W bank on its 25W collection page, so read the product page, not the category.
- Capacity is not phone charges. A 10,000mAh bank delivers noticeably less than 10,000mAh to your phone, because wireless charging loses energy as heat. In Macworld’s tests, 10K magnetic banks recharged an iPhone by 177% to 208%, so expect a little under two full charges, and fewer on larger phones.
- Thickness and weight. 25W banks are 10K-class and noticeably heavier. If it stays in your bag, fine. If it stays on your phone, look at the slim 5K models.
