Review Summary:

Photography enthusiasts have more than a few available choices when it comes to their iPhones. As you surely know by now, the iPhone 5S offers one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, and it also comes with a very simple and effective photo-taking app. On the other hand, many are choosing to use third party apps as well as additional hardware gear, both of which could be easily found in all kinds of versions, models and prices.

VoiceSnap is a new app from MocaApps LLC, which is designed to allow you to take photos using your voice. Even though this sounds like a gimmick, it actually works very well in practice and can be very useful in all kinds of situations. You can download this app from the App Store for $2, and there are no additional in-app purchases.

Once you open the app for the first time, you will be introduced to some of the main features that VoiceSnap offers. You will be asked for permission to your microphone, and then you will get to see very simple but very informative tutorial. What is interesting to note is that the app is very user friendly, so you can learn the ropes without paying attention to this tutorial, but as always this is a plus.

VoiceSnap 2

In order to take a picture you will need to say the command “Voice Snap, take a picture”, which will be followed by a small delay until the shutter actually snaps. There are several voice commands that you can use, like “Voice Snap a photo” or simply “Take a picture”. Once you dig a bit deeper into this app, you will see that there are some very useful photography features in here. For example, you can use several different modes like burst mode or a square cropping mode. You can also use a timer and you can set up a grid that helps you to properly align your photos. Some of these features can be found right on the main screen, while you can also access settings for additional tuning.

Another exciting feature that VoiceSnap provides is the Remote Snap. This allows you to pair the app with another iOS device and take photos from a distance. This can be done thanks to Bluetooth and works remarkably well. This opens up a completely new world of possibilities for this great application, which can be used by professional photographers as well. For example, the Remote Snap is great in combination with a tripod, which allows you to precisely position your phone and take very clear photos. This could be also done using a pair of earbuds with remote and mic, but now you can use Bluetooth, which gives you greater freedom.

I am always looking for interesting photo-taking apps and iOS photo editors as well, and I am happy to say that this app is now the part of my permanent collection. For only $2, you will get plenty of useful features that will expand your iPhone’s photography abilities. It is not hard to see that VoiceSnap is a great deal for the price.
