Review Summary:

PROS: Incredible capacity of 20,400mAh. Quality made. Comes with adapters for older iOS devices. CONS: Slow charging speeds.

Approximately two months ago we brought a review of iBattz Mojo Vogue battery pack, which impressed us with its design and great capacity, but we had a problem with its charging speeds. Actually, charging speeds of this battery pack were great for 1-Amp output, but you simply need at least 2.1-Amp for today’s iPhones and iPads.

Now it’s time to take for a test the latest product made by iBattz and it’s also going to a battery pack. In contrast to Mojo Vogue, this one brings astonishing 20,400mAh cell inside and you can purchase it for $130 which seems like an excellent price considering its capacity. This product is called Mojo Battstation Optimus and it’s available for purchase right from the iBattz official website.

Mojo Battstation Optimus 1

The first thing that I noticed about Mojo Battstation Optimus is its size which is actually small for a battery of such large capacity. The power cells are packed inside a plastic shell whose dimensions are 5.5” by 2.8” by 0.87”. Also, according to official statements you’ll get to use 2.1A and 1A USB ports. In the packaging you’ll receive a micro-USB cable with 30-pin Dock Connector and a Samsung Android extension as well.

Speaking of its design, Mojo Battstation Optimus brings plastic enclosure whose dimensions are very good for a battery of 20,400mAh capacity. It weighs about 12.5 ounces, which is as expected. What’s interesting to note is that iBattz included Panasonic automotive grade battery inside, which sounds impressive. As you can see from the pictures, there’s the striking rubber accent on the front size informing you about the capacity and brand name. The USB output ports can be found on both shorter sides, while the back side contains the micro-USB input, power button, and built-in flashlight which seems like a nice addition. On the top side you can find a series of LED lights, used to signalize how much power there’s left. Also, once this battery pack becomes almost drained, one of these LEDs will constantly flash in order to notify you.

Now it’s time to say a few words about its performance. According to our and numerous tests around the web, this battery actually brings 20,400mAh cell inside. This means that you’ll get up to 170% of additional power for the newest iPad Air. However, charging speeds are less than impressive. Even though iBattz says that this battery brings 2.1Amp output, the charging speeds correspond to 1Amp. This doesn’t have to be a big problem for some users, but it’s very annoying having to wait 8 hours for the iPad Air to be fully charged. On the other hand, it will take up to 15 hours for Mojo Battstation Optimus to be fully charged.

It was a letdown to see that changing speeds are well above average for 2.1Amp output. On the other hand, there’s a lot to like about this product, especially its incredibly large capacity and how affordable it is. If you don’t mind slow charging speeds, this battery pack might be the right choice.
