When it comes to iOS-compatible activity trackers, there has never been a shortage of quality ones. It’s been a few years now since several well-known manufacturers decided to join this race and offer uniquely designed digital fitness companions. After a few years of continuous development it’s amazing to see limitless possibilities of these small devices.
Back in March we brought a review of one of the bestselling activity trackers, which is Jawbone’s UP. This device achieved very big success and mostly positive critiques, even though it was clear that there were some serious drawbacks. Today we are going to tell you about the newest product by Jawbone, called UP24, so let’s see how successful the next step for this popular device is going to be.
In case you decide to purchase a new activity tracker, there are several things that you need to be sure of in order to make a good decision. You’ll need to know what kind of design you prefer, what kind of connectivity you need, you also need to see its iOS application and other users’ reviews. As you can see, this is not as easy as it seems but it’s essential in case you’d like to make the most out of an activity tracker. For example, Jawbone’s UP24 is perfect for those who like elegant wristbands and who don’t care of a display or a real-time information (even though you can check this on Jawbone’s iOS app at any time).
When it comes to design, Jawbone UP24 is very similar to the previous generation that turned out to be very popular because of its appearance. There are some very small tactile differences, but this is pretty much the same device as before. What’s new about UP24 is that it supports Bluetooth and takes advantage of selected iOS devices in terms of hardware and software. The UP24 comes with integrated battery which lasts from 7 to 10 days, and only needs an hour to be fully charged.
Jawbone also released the third major revision of its official iOS app, which takes full advantage of UP24. I was very surprised to see how much data this little wristband is able of tracking, and all of those information will be nicely presented via its iOS app. Even though it doesn’t bring currently popular flat design, Jawbone’s iOS app is very colorful and easy on eyes, and is able of presenting a lot data in a very organized and clear manner. There are actually two main views, which can be activated using a switch on UP24, so the tracker can be used in daytime and nighttime as well. During day time it will track how active you are, how many steps you take, how many calories you burn (active and passive), food and water intake, and much more. During nighttime this tracker will keep track of your sleep (light or deep), total time you’ve spent sleeping, and you can also set up smart alarms.
After Jawbone UP24 collects all of these information you can simply go to its iOS app where you’ll be able to see very detailed graphs, timelines, and calendar views. You’ll be also able to compare certain time periods and compete against your friends as well.
I am happy to say that the newest generation of Jawbone’s activity tracker is yet another step forward, even more powerful than before.
